Prayer Flags 09/01/29 463 views

In Tibet, buddhist followers pray to 5 elements of the earth: sky, cloud, fire, water and earth. They painted (or printed now a days) prayers on flags, colored to represent each of the elements. People would tie these flags together and hang them in holy places. It was very common to see these prayer flags in monasteries, or near them. These flags were located just outside the monastery caves, where many monks lived on the side of a hill, in caves, at very high altitudes. We drove in between a hill side of rocks, across the top of the road connecting the sides of the rock, hung prayer flags. These flags strung across the road, making a prayer flag bridge, that was colourful and vibrant.

The flags were placed in such a way, that it caught my eye and I also couldn’t help but stare at the colour too. I didn’t really do much altering with this picture, just made the flags brighter, to match what I saw in real life.

Thanks for waiting this week, I had to study for an exam last night, no time to post.

Neat-o. I love the colours, and it looks as if you’ve cut the sky out, It’s absolutely white.

Hey Reilly! I remember you from when we were little, haha! You used to hang out with Dave and me. Glad you’re getting into photography, it’s really interesting. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to post any new pictures during school, but now that my summer is here, hopefully I’ll be posting more. :)
