This picture was accidentally taken just before Christmas 2006. I was originally trying to accomplish a photo that had two images burned on one frame. I was using my first Nikon camera, and needless to say, it wasn't the most technological piece of equipment. I wanted a picture of my Grandmother and her daughter (my Aunt) side by side, on the same frame, but taken with two different shots. I used up my whole role of film and, with any luck, I must have captured a shot. But the shot met its demise, as I never got a suitable photo. Although, during the shoot, I managed to capture this picture of my Nana, waiting for me to take a shot, as I never gave her warning.

When I developed the film, and saw this picture, it was love at first sight. People may argue, they don't like the dead space beside her head and a bit of her face is cut off; but to me, that's what makes it so powerful. The facial expression and the dark space beside her gives me the shivers.

Not gunna lie, I fully agree with what you're saying about the empty space emphasizing the powerful kick assness of this picture.. But while I was looking, I kinda noticed. The shadow in the empty space… kinda looks like a football helmet.

Maybe I'm crazy.

Well Ethan/, that shadow is from the chair, caused by the light I used to brighten the other half of her face, because she was parallel to a window.

I don't see the shape of a football helmet.

I think you are…

Two things, One: I'm DEFINATELY not crazy yet, because I fully illuminated it on my computer.. and there is a football Helmet there. Two: You're slash is the wrong way

Heh. I can sort of discern the same helmet shape he's seeing. But, it's obviously not an actual football helmet casting that shadow. It looks more like a helmet drawn in the style of South Park, to me.

But, it adds to the photo. Like, your grandmother casts the shadow of a football player. There's significance to that. Specifically: it's significantly bad-ass.

Well, it is not my most flattering picture because it is so close up. I can't get over how my eyes are staring straight at the viewer. Creepy! Love Nana
