I thought I’d start with a bang since my absence has left some people wondering whether I was still taking pictures or whether I was still alive. I took a leave of absence from my site due to my hectic schedule. Christmas’ original plan was to happen in Florida as my family and I had planned a vacation right after exams up until the 24th of December. The trip was cancelled due to the very exciting, yet painful, news that my Mom was about to be pushed into surgery. The original procedure was only going to take an hour or so to complete and she would be walking out of the hospital. But complications arose and they had to cut into her back leaving a 4-inch gouge in front of the lower part of her spine. The trip was obviously cancelled but that, however, did not dampen our spirits. The trip would be rescheduled for another time, we were just thankful she was getting the help she needed. So with the trip cancelled, that left a week and a half to frantically make Christmas happen. Little to no gifts were bought, the house was not decorated and there was no tree. So as you can imagine, I was in no position to stroll outside to see what was going on in the photography world. I did however, have time to post before the Christmas mayhem but, as I posted earlier, I wanted to keep my Mother’s post on for as long as I could in order to collect prayers. I took all the prayers from my viewers and I printed them on a giant blanket… she loved it. So thank you for all those who gave their thoughts and prayers, they are now beautiful words that remind her of the people that love her every day.
So I guess you’re wondering why I have a picture of Everest for you today. Well that’s because on December 26th I went to China! The trip was amazing, I climbed the Great Wall, went to base camp Everest and saw hundreds of monasteries in Tibet. It was a long journey, but it all boiled down to this one shot. This was the picture where we endured altitude sickness like none other standing at 20,000 ft, the picture that took countless hours in a very cold truck to get to, a picture that was worth it. You can see hundreds of pictures of Everest but there’s no feeling to describe when you sit there staring at a mountain whose height and greatness was never understood until now. Bundled up like it’s -40, sitting on pebbles and not caring what you look like by then, you wonder if the air is so thin that you’re hallucinating this mountain or if it’s real. Well, my camera says it’s real.
I figured I’d pick the nicest picture from my batch of postables in Lightroom to post today, which signifies the end of the posting hiatus. This trip definitely scratched my photography itch over the winter. I hope you enjoy this picture. There are more to come.

But I must ask, do you itch a scratch or scratch an itch? :)
Cool!
As Keanu Reeves would say: whoa.
Very nice. I can only hope to one day see something as beatuful as this through my own eyes.
Paragraphs Steph, paragraphs! ;)
Enough! It has been fixed. Haha, there are paragraphs, but Aaron’s developing skills aren’t as good as he says it is. Haha, for some reason you have to space paragraphs twice in order for them to show up. Thank you everyone:)
Great picture Stephanie. I heard many stories of your great adventure from your Dad & Adina. Can’t wait to see more of your pictures. Love Kim
